Top Water Sports in Ibiza (Real 2026 Guide by Industry Expert)
Introduction: A Real Perspective from Inside the Industry
Ibiza is one of the most famous destinations in the world for water sports. Every summer, thousands of visitors look for activities like jet ski tours, parasailing, wakeboarding or boat experiences.
What most guides don’t tell you is simple:
not all water sports experiences in Ibiza are the same.
This guide is based on real industry experience.
Lindsay McQueen, founder of Yacht Watersports Ibiza & jetski.club, has been involved in water sports from a professional level since childhood — from competition water skiing starting in Benidorm to working with some of the best training centers in Europe, becoming Spanish champion in multiple disciplines and later one of the early pioneers of modern water sports in Ibiza.
From distributing wakeboard boats and equipment across Spain to becoming one of the leading suppliers of water toys for yachts in the world, and later working directly with elite clients and global celebrities making all kinds of watersports onboard their yachts during the summer in Ibiza & Formentera, this guide reflects first-hand knowledge of how water sports really work in Ibiza.

Parasailing in Ibiza
Parasailing is one of the most popular water activities in Ibiza, offering panoramic views of the coastline from the air. What many people don’t realise is that the actual flight time is relatively short, typically around 10 to 15 minutes.
(official tourism overview available at Ibiza Travel ).
The full experience, though, is significantly longer. Most parasailing operators use boats that carry around 9 to 10 clients at a time. These boats usually do not depart until they are full or nearly full, which means some waiting time before leaving the marina.
Once the boat departs, the activity follows a continuous rotation system. The first participants are fitted with a harness and gradually lifted into the air while the boat is moving. After their flight, they are winched back down onto the boat without stopping. They are then unhooked and move aside so the next participants can prepare for takeoff. This process continues until all passengers have completed their flight.
From departure to return, the entire experience can last up to two hours on the water.
Sea conditions play an important role. Because the boat remains in constant motion during the whole session, people who are not used to being at sea may start to feel uncomfortable, especially if the water is choppy. This is something worth considering before booking, particularly for those prone to seasickness.
In summary, while the highlight is the short flight in the air, the majority of the experience takes place onboard the boat, in continuous motion, alongside other participants.
What to expect:
-
You fly attached to a parachute behind a boat
-
Incredible panoramic views
-
Very low physical effort
Limitations:
-
Short duration (10–15 min flight)
-
Less dynamic than jet ski or wakeboard
Best for:
-
Couples
-
First-time experiences
-
Scenic activity lovers
Boat Rental in Ibiza
Boat rental in Ibiza is widely available, but not all operators follow the same standards. Established companies typically operate from official marinas such as Marina Ibiza, Marina Botafoch, Club Náutico Ibiza, Marina Santa Eulalia or Port of Sant Antoni, which generally indicates compliance with port regulations, insurance requirements and professional infrastructure. Extra caution is advised with boats offered outside these environments, as they may lack proper authorisation or adequate insurance. A key detail to check is the boat’s registration: in Spain, rental boats must be registered under List 6ª (commercial use), while List 7ª indicates private use only and is not legally intended for charter, which can create serious liability issues in case of an incident.
(regulated by Spanish maritime authorities ).
Another important factor is the type of rental. Licence-free boats (typically under 15 HP) are available but limited in range and designed for short coastal use, and the regulatory trend in Spain suggests tighter restrictions in the future, although exact timelines should be verified with maritime authorities. If you hold a valid licence, renting a RIB between 7 and 10 metres allows you to explore areas such as Formentera or Es Vedrà with more safety and flexibility. For most visitors, renting with a skipper remains the most practical option, as it removes legal responsibility, ensures local knowledge of routes and conditions, and provides a safer and more relaxed experience on the water.
If you are considering combining boats and watersports, you can explore boat and jet ski charter options in Ibiza.
Options:
-
Without license (small boats)
-
With skipper (most popular)
-
Luxury yachts
Real insight:
The experience depends more on:
-
the skipper
-
the route
-
the weather
than the boat itself.
Wakeboard & Waterski
Wakeboarding and water skiing in Ibiza are available but relatively limited compared to other destinations. Most activity is concentrated around Sant Antoni de Portmany, where a few operators offer sessions from beach concessions rather than specialised wake sports setups. Unlike dedicated wakeboarding destinations, there are generally no purpose-built wake boats with towers or ballast systems, so conditions are not ideal for proper wakeboarding performance. Some options can also be found in areas like Playa d’en Bossa and Cala Bassa, but sea conditions across Ibiza tend to become choppy quite quickly, making early morning (before 10:00) the only consistently suitable time. Equipment is usually basic and designed for casual use rather than progression or high-level riding, so while it can be a fun experience, those looking for optimal conditions or advanced setups may find it more worthwhile to consider other water sports on the island.
Background insight:
Wakeboard and waterski have a strong competitive base in Spain, with training centers like those in Benidorm producing professional athletes.
Reality in Ibiza:
-
Not beginner-friendly compared to jet ski
-
Requires technique and balance
-
Often done from private boats or specialized operators
Flyboard Hydroflight board
Flyboard had a strong global boom from around 2013 to roughly 2020–2022, driven by innovation and high-profile demonstrations. I was directly involved from the early stages, working closely with its inventor Franky Zapata, contributing to final development, international promotion and shows, and ranking among the top three riders worldwide for several years. We also delivered premium Flyboard experiences in Formentera for high-end clients on yachts. Today, the situation is very different: since 2023–2024, demand has declined significantly. The main issue is not just reduced trend appeal, but execution—Flyboard depends heavily on instructor skill, and most operators lack the experience required to consistently deliver a successful first flight, which leads to disappointing customer experiences. As a result, Flyboard is no longer a core activity in Ibiza, and we have fully shifted our focus to jet ski tours, where demand, scalability and customer satisfaction are much more consistent.
Expert insight:
-
Ibiza was one of the first places in the world where Flyboard was introduced at a high level
-
Early adopters trained and performed globally
Experience:
-
Very visual and impressive
-
Requires coordination
-
Short sessions
Paddle Surf & Kayak
Kayak and paddle surf (stand-up paddle, SUP) are among the most accessible and worthwhile water activities in Ibiza, widely available at beach concessions across the island. Paddle surf is generally the better all-around option: the standing position is more natural, it gives you a clear view into the water and coastline, and it engages the full body—especially core balance and stability—making it both a sport and a relaxed way to explore. Kayaks remain a solid alternative, particularly for less sporty clients or those who prefer a more stable, seated experience, but overall SUP offers a more complete and immersive activity for most people.
Characteristics:
-
Low intensity
-
Accessible
-
Great for exploring calm areas
Limitation:
-
Highly dependent on sea conditions
Inflatable Water Rides
Inflatable water rides (often called tubes or sofa rides) are widely available across Ibiza, especially in busy beach areas like Playa d’en Bossa, Cala Bassa, Cala Conta, Cala Llonga, Cala San Vicente and throughout San Antonio Bay. They’re one of the most accessible and affordable water activities on the island, designed for all ages and requiring no experience—just hold on and enjoy the ride. In general, they’re considered safe when operated correctly, with life jackets and professional drivers, although the experience can vary depending on sea conditions and the quality of the operator.
Examples:
-
Banana boat
-
Sofa ride
-
Donut
Experience:
-
Fun but short
-
Group activity
-
Less premium positioning
Best Water Sports Companies in Ibiza
These are the companies in Ibiza that, based on personal experience and industry knowledge, are worth mentioning, as they have been operating consistently for several years and are well established on the island. That said, I have not individually verified their current licenses, insurance or legal status, so it should be assumed that each operator is responsible for meeting the requirements necessary to operate.

Conclusion:
Jet ski tours offer the best balance between adrenaline, accessibility and overall experience.

Takeoff Ibiza
Take Off Ibiza is one of the long-standing companies in Ibiza’s watersports sector, with decades of experience operating in the island’s marine environment. The business originally developed in San Antonio, where it was historically involved in more traditional activities such as parasailing. Over time, the company shifted its strategy and moved away from fixed-location, concession-based operations.
Today, Take Off Ibiza operates under a mobile, boat-based model, without a permanent beach concession. Their activity is mainly centered around two support boats, typically operating from moorings in the San Antonio area. From there, they run half-day and full-day excursions, as well as private charters and event services.
Their current offering is best understood as boat tours with integrated watersports, rather than standalone rental from a fixed base. During these tours, clients have access to a selection of onboard equipment, which typically includes:
-
Water bikes
-
Seabobs
-
eFoils / electric hydrofoils
-
Inflatable platforms and leisure setups
These activities are used as part of the overall experience, allowing guests to rotate between different water toys while the boat is anchored in suitable locations.
In addition to the equipment they directly operate, Take Off Ibiza also resells or sources other watersports activities through third-party operators, depending on client requests. This allows them to offer a broader range of experiences without maintaining all equipment or infrastructure in-house.
The company also works extensively with the yacht and luxury charter sector, providing water toy delivery, onboard instruction, and tailored experiences for private clients. Their services extend across Ibiza and Formentera, where they can deliver equipment and operate directly from support boats (RIBs), adapting to the client’s location.
Another part of their business includes technical services such as sales, maintenance, and repair of watersports equipment, positioning them not only as an operator but also as a service provider within the nautical ecosystem.
Overall, Take Off Ibiza is positioned more towards flexible, high-end, boat-based experiences, rather than the traditional beach-based watersports model commonly found across Ibiza.
Ibiza Wakeboard
Ibiza Wakeboard is a watersports operator based in the Bay of San Antonio, one of the main areas in Ibiza for classic beach and boat-based activities.
Traditionally, they have offered a mix of accessible watersports such as inflatable tow rides, together with more technical activities like water skiing and wakeboarding. Around five or six years ago, they expanded their offer by adding Flyboard, which gave them a more modern and adrenaline-focused product alongside their original activities.
Their current model appears to combine several types of experiences: towable inflatables, wakeboarding, water skiing, Flyboard and boat tours. This makes them a broad watersports operator rather than a highly specialised wakeboard school.
In practical terms, Ibiza Wakeboard is best described as a San Antonio Bay watersports company focused on fun, accessible activities for tourists, with some more technical options for clients who want to try wakeboarding, water skiing or Flyboard. Their boat tours also allow them to extend beyond short beach-style rides and offer more complete experiences around the bay.
Ski Pepe Watersports
Ski Pepe Watersports is one of the longest-running watersports operators in Ibiza, with more than 50 years of history in the Bay of Santa Eulalia.
The company originally started with water skiing, which was one of the first classic watersports activities available in the area. Over the years, they expanded their offer by adding more accessible tourist activities such as banana boats, pedal boats and inflatable tow rides.
Today, their main activity is parasailing, with departures operating from Marina Santa Eulalia, where they have a mooring. Although they still maintain inflatables and pedal boats in the Santa Eulalia area, the parasailing itself departs from the marina rather than directly from the beach.
Around two years ago, they also added a RIB boat excursion, offering shared boat trips of approximately one to two hours. These trips usually combine sightseeing with simple water activities such as paddle surf and other light watersports equipment.
Overall, Ski Pepe Watersports is a traditional Santa Eulalia operator that has evolved from classic water skiing into a broader tourist watersports business, with parasailing now being its main product.
Es Vedra Charter
Es Vedra Charter originally began as a boat sales and rental company and later expanded into jet ski rentals. Today, they are considered one of the main operators in the San Antonio Bay, where they manage one of the largest jet ski fleets in the area.
They operate under several commercial names, including jetskiibiza and IbizaJetskiTour, which can sometimes create confusion for customers when comparing offers or identifying the actual operator behind each brand.
Their fleet consists of Yamaha jet skis. Although their base is located within the marina, the jet ski excursions do not depart directly from there. Instead, the jet skis are positioned offshore, floating on buoys in the middle of the bay. Clients are transported from the marina to the starting point by a small dinghy, and the experience begins from that offshore location.
In addition to their operations in San Antonio, they also run a retail shop in Ibiza Town, where they sell water sports equipment, boats, and jet skis.
Aqua Diving Center
Aqua Diving Center is a diving center located within Marina Santa Eulalia. It offers comfortable, well-organized facilities inside the marina, with access to private parking for clients. Departures take place directly from its own mooring using its dedicated boat, allowing for a smooth and efficient operation without the need for additional transfers.
SUP Ibiza
SUP Paradise Ibiza is probably the most popular paddle surf company on the island. They have a store and office in the centre of Ibiza, on the road between Ibiza Town and San Antonio, and they organise paddle surf excursions in different locations around the island.
Kayak Ibiza
Kayak Ibiza is mainly based at Figueral Beach on the north-east side of Ibiza. They specialise in guided kayak excursions around the island, operating from several locations depending on conditions and routes, although Figueral serves as their primary base.
eFoil Riders
eFoil Riders Ibiza is a company that started in Mallorca around six years ago and has recently taken over the office in Marina Botafoch that was previously operated by Haller Experiences Ibiza. They specialise in the rental of eFoils and Seabobs, offering hourly and full-day options, targeting clients looking for more premium and technology-driven water experiences.
Blue Coral Ibiza
Blue Coral Ibiza is a beach-based operator located in Playa d’en Bossa, close to Bora Bora Apartments. Their main activity focuses on banana boat rides and inflatable water attractions, designed for a wide and casual audience. They also offer some additional activities such as basic wakeboarding and jet ski rentals. Their operations are beach-based, with departures directly from the shore or using small support boats.
Cala Tarida Watersports
Cala Tarida Watersports is a beach-based watersports operator located on the left-hand side of Cala Tarida. They offer a range of recreational activities such as banana boat rides and other towable inflatables, as well as experiences like flyboarding and jet ski rental. Their setup follows a typical beach concession model, with short-duration activities designed for a broad, holiday-oriented audience.
Jetski Beach Ibiza
Ibiza Jet Ski Beach is a jet ski rental operator based on Cala Bassa beach, on the west coast of Ibiza, covering areas such as San Antonio, Es Vedrà and Cala Conta. Their operation follows a typical beach-concession model: clients are first taken out from the shore by zodiac boat to open water, where the jet skis are moored, and the excursions begin from there. They offer guided tours around the coastline rather than departures directly from a marina. The company also operates under multiple commercial names, including JetSki Beach Ibiza, along with other variations, which can sometimes make it less transparent for customers comparing operators in the area.
Watersports Portinatx
Water Sports Portinatx is a beach-concession watersports operator based in Portinatx, in the north of Ibiza. It works as a typical beach chiringuito-style setup, offering classic beach activities such as inflatable towable rides, banana boat rides and pedal boat rental. They also offer flyboard sessions, making them one of the watersports points in the Portinatx area for clients looking for short, easy beach-based activities rather than full marina-based excursions.
Conclusion:
Jet ski tours offer the best balance between adrenaline, accessibility and overall experience.
